The Old Community Caring Center

Picture
In the beginning, there was the Azle Lake Run, created 31 years ago.  Then, there was the Community Caring Center founded in the eighties.   I was on the original Board of Directors for the CCC, and the organization's second Director.  I haven't had an official position with the CCC since then, however, I have supported and rooted for the CCC ever since.

A couple of years ago, the Lake Run lost its beneficiary as the Pastoral Counseling Center Closed.  What better way to keep the tradition of the Lake Run going then to have it benefit the CCC and The Eagle Mt. Pregnancy Help Center?!  So I decided to get the old gang together to continue the race.

The Picture to the left is to thank the Azle Jr. High -- back in the day.  I'm behind the camera.  Joe Rehbeger is the Young man to the right.

Ultimately, the "old gang" ended up being Joe and I.  If you've seen the movie R.E.D. you know what I mean.  Joe raised all the money for the race last year as well as did the lion's share of the work.  This is amazing considering a heart condition that is going to require a pacemaker.  This year, it is taking 15 people to replace Joe and I'm taking Vacation to pull this off.

Back in the day, this truck would carry all the food we would distribute in a week.  Today, it would barely cover the first two hours of a busy day.  The credit belongs to Arthur Lang who was the first Director when we built the current facility and Joe Lieb who has expanded the scope of the CCC since then.

My amazing wife, Jeanie, was the Assistant Director for the Eagle Mt. Pregnancy Help Center for two years.  We have personal knowledge of the integrity of the organization.  There are not greater fans of the Pregnancy Help Center than Jeanie and I.  We have seen so many people helped and lives transformed.

These two organizations embody the motto for the Azle Lake Run.  "Love your neighbor as yourself."   What I often said back in the eighties is still true for these two organizations today.  "We have done so much with so little for so long, we are now qualified to do the impossible with absolutely nothing."

So we invite you to join us in supporting these two organizations while we try to put on the biggest party and best run possible!
